We asked forty couples married in the last year what they spent, and where the money actually went. The short answer: less than the national average, and the biggest single variable is the day of the week.

What we found

Every figure below comes from couples who married in Brisbane between March 2025 and March 2026. Where a range is given, it covers the middle 80 per cent of responses.

The single biggest lever is the day of the week. A Friday or Sunday wedding at the same venue, with the same guest count, came in an average of 22 per cent cheaper than the Saturday equivalent.

Where the money goes

• Venue and catering: roughly half the total
• Photography and film: 12 to 18 per cent
• Flowers and styling: 8 to 14 per cent

None of this is prescriptive. It is simply what people told us they spent.
